Man Products - Maca Root Energetic Face Protector

First up in my 'Man Products' feature is the Maca Root Energetic Face Protector from The Body Shop.
What they say:

This energising daily moisturiser with SPF 15 hydrates and protects skin. Contains Peruvian maca root.

  • Hydrates and protects
  • Skin appears more energised
  • Contains SPF 15

What he says:

Easy to use, doesn't feel greasy and smells nice.

What I say:

I adore the smell of this on his face, it's beautiful scent but it's still a manly scent. His skin has vastly improved in condition since using this. It also doesn't look greasy, and I'm happy in the knowledge that he is using some form of SPF to protect his face.

Maca Root Energetic Face Protector: £10.00

Peace, love and all that jazz. xo

Man Products - Future Feature?

Us girls, we know we need to look after our skin to get the best out of it, but do the men in our lives?

My fiance for one, never used to, and it's because of me forcfully applying my moisturiser to his face, that he caved in and he bought his own. Not just moisturiser, but face wash, spot sticks, hand cream, we even do face masks together now.
He uses these things and he feels better for it, it's nice to hold his hand after he's applied his handcream, because his hands get so dry and calloused from playing his guitars.

My dad and brother do not have any regime other than shower gel and shampoo and a spray of deodorant. I do want to change this. Even if it means my dad can apply a moisturiser after a long day of welding, where his face usually get burnt.

So, I plan to write review on products for men, not only for women. I'll give you my opinion but also theirs.

Peace, love and all that jazz. xo

The Carrie Files

Here is the first in, hopefully a series where I take classic images of the fabulous Carrie Bradshaw and attempt to recreate her look.

A classic Carrie look.

By Carrie's timeline you can see she's engaged to Aiden at this point (engagement ring on a chain). This look is one of the many reasons I love her, simple and amazing. Her low key make up and hair allow the pink of the top and the necklaces, piled up to create a statement. In true Carrie style she's wearing a black bra with a coloured top.

I'm using New Look to recreate this look.

Magenta Longline Vest £5.99
Mini Corsage Pearly Necklace (Was £5.99) £3.50
Pearly Bead Necklace (Was £4.99) £3
Chunky Bead Necklace £9.99
Pearl and Chain Necklace £6.99
Sparkle Shell Necklace (Was £12.99) £7
Glitzy Deco Ring (Was £6.99) £3.50
Tonal Peep Toe Heels £24.99

You are my Candy Girl

I'm not the biggest fan of the colour pink, but it is a really pretty colour and looks really fresh in the summer time. So here are my wants this time.

The Headband is a rather cute piece, and I'm rather loving head wear at the moment. I think the stripes are cute but also grown up at the same time. You could make a vest and jeans seem more interesting with one of these.

I may not be the biggest fan of pink, but I'm lusting over these Sunglasses, which are from Asos, but you can see they're pricey and not in my budget at the present time, unless someone would like to buy me them. They are really quirky, but classy at the same time, the arms have a sweet little star pattern on them, and I adore them.

I chose the Bangle because it has a sweet little message but really I don't think you're ever too old for Disney.

It's such a pretty Dress, I'm in love with the pattern and cut of it, it's beaded too which makes it extra special. I believe that it would look beautiful with a brown boyfriend style belt, wooden bangles and a gorgeous pair of wedges.

You know how I said Wedges just? Well these are co cute! I think they'd go with the dress (above) but would look great with jeans and a t-shirt or vest . They have that country vibe that's so in right now too.

I do have a love for e.l.f cosmetics at the moment and I think this Lipstick is beautiful. The shade is called Gypsy and it's also sheer, so definately a your-lips-but-better lipstick.

So, that's all for my wants this time.

Peace, love and all that jazz. xo

Test Subject: e.l.f

e.l.f (eyes lips face)

I hadn't heard of this company until recently, when I noticed them popping up in a few of the magazines I had been reading. I started researching them and discovered their facebook page, where they give you exclusive special offers, which, in my book, is great insentive to actually buy their products. (Offers range from free post to free make up with minimum orders).
When they posted that there would be free postage on their site for a limited time, I thought it was finally time to buy the products I was eyeing up.

So here's what I got:
Enlarge to see products clearly.

(Studio)Eye primer and Liner Sealer: £3.50

What they say:

"The Prime side sets your eyeshadow in so your color won't fade, bleed or crease. The Liner side transforms your favorite eye shadow into a waterproof, smudge-proof liquid liner with this unique clear liquid and built-in felt tip precision eyeliner brush. Now you can have your eye makeup lasting longer for no fuss no budge color."

What I say:

First off, this is a brilliant price for a dual product.
When I first looked at the primer part I was slightly worried as the stick is shiny, this made me think that it'd be an oily product, but when I applied it I found it to be a lovely base product and in no way shiny. I found that it blended across my eyelid without dragging.
The liner sealer intruiged me, I tested it out on the eyeshadow, but also over my Gold intense eyeliner pen (Barry M) and it worked on both! It does take about a minute to dry, once applied, but I guess that's blusher time, so it's not a problem for me.

Therapeutic Conditioning Balm in Blackberry Creme: £1.50

What they say:

"Salvation for parched lips. This innovative balm coats lips with natural nutrients and skin soothers to condition even the most sensitive lips. Infused with Shea Butter and Vitamins A & E for long lasting protection."

What I say:

This is lovely my lips felt great as soon as I applied it, it literally glided on. It also has a wonderful sheer tint to it, and my lips have a beautiful subtle shine. This is definately a 'no-makeup-makeup' kind of product, great for days of minimal makeup like work, school, gym etc.

Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Bark: £1.50

What they say:

"True color therapy is here. Intensive hydrating agents along with natural pigments leave lips with Long-lasting color and moisture. This luscious liquid lipstick creates wearable color that flatters a multitude of skin tones and looks."

What I say:

This is such a shiny lip product! It really is amazing, it has a minty scent that makes your lips tingle and feel/look fuller. Unlike other lipsticks/glosses/tints this didn't make my lips feel dry. The colour itself complimented my skin tone and isn't too over the top. It's really easy to apply too, just twist until the product appears, then glide on.

Tinted Moisturizer in Ivory: £1.50

What they say:

"SPF 15 formula helps combat premature aging and protects against sun damage while leaving skin radiant and lightly hydrated. "

What I say:

This is a great little product, for those days when you don't want to wear foundation but want a little coverage. I was hesitant as it could have made me look oily, mostly on my nose, but it didn't. I know others are divided over the scent of this product, but I find the orangy scent rather refreshing. I adore products that have SPF, so this fits right in.

(Studio) Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths: £3.50

What they say:

"Gently and easily cleans skin to remove all traces of makeup and dirt, even waterproof mascara. Great for on-the-go travel. Gentle cloths are soft and soothing for even the most sensitive skin. Infused with Aloe Vera Extract for deep hydration and moisture. 20 Pre-moistened cloths included."

What I say:

These are brilliant! When using face wipes, I usually find that you really have to rub to get eyeline off and repeatedly tug at my eyelashes to get mascara off and then the wipes aren't that moist, but these are so wonderfully wet compared to other wipes, that even tough double coated mascara came off in an instant. These wipes even have a built in moisturizer. I think these are perfect for after a night out when you've really piled the makeup on but are too tired to properly wash off your makeup and go through your nightly routine.

Brightening Eye Colour in Glam: £1.50

What they say:

"Luxuriously smooth, corn silk formula provides eyes with a neutral base and an awakened brightness."

What I say:

You'll often find that the colour you see in the palette does not match what you apply, but honestly, with thise little quad you really do get the colour you see in the palette. I really love the fact that you can use this quad in different ways for different occasions, and all 4 shades go together. What's also nice is that 2 shades have a shimmer but the other two are matt. It comes with it's own little applicator but also a tiny mirror so you can do your eyeson the go!

Final note:

I was so impressed with the products, they wear brilliantly. When I ordered them, I was expecting them to be rather small but I was pleasantly surprised, you get alot for your money. I really like the packaging the products come in.

The website is so easy to navigate.

The delivery is brilliant, when I placed my order, I was expecting it to be arriving end of the week/next week, I was not expecting it to arrive the very next day! I most definately shall order again.

I give e.l.f a huge thumbs up!

Test Subject: Eyeko

After muddling around on the internet I stumbled across Eyeko, and I was so impressed by their products, and couldn't decide what to buy, I decided to buy the Mystery Box (which they had at the time, bear in mind this was early May) along with one of their Fat Balms, I also got a freebie for using an Ambassador code.

So, here's what I got:Top left: The box it came in. Top right: The goodies in the box.
Bottom left: The goodies laid out. Bottom right: Colour swatches

What I got (in order from l-r on the colour swatch picture):
As I've already stated I bought a Fat Balm, which I got in the shade Toffee. I am in love with this. It's a 2-in-1 product as it can be used on your cheeks and lips. I use it on my cheeks as it gives me just the right amount of colour. I love this, I seriously do, an added bonus is that it has SPF15 in it.
Fat Balm: £6.50

Next up is the Liptastik Glossy Lip Pen in Hot Lips, which is the first outof my mystery box and also a Limited Edition. This is an amazing colour, (I'm wearing it in my photo) it goes on so easily and looks fantastic and looks brilliant. I wear it alot.
Lip Pen: £6.50

The black line is the Graffiti Eyeliner Pen in Jet Black. This is a rather awesome eyeliner, it draws on beautifully and is a lot easier for me to use than a usual eyeliner brush. I love the packaging on this product too. I've actually used this a fair bit.
Eyeliner Pen: £5.50
.

Next in my mystery box line up is the Limited Edition London Lips in Primrose Hill. This lipgloss is gorgeous and it has a very beautiful shine. It goes amazingly with the lip pen. I also really like the packaging, it has cute little illustations of London icons (Westminster clock tower, a bus , a phone box and the underground sign.)
London Lips: £6.50

Next in my mystery box, and the two long pink streaks you see in the photo, is the Cheeky Colour Blush Duo in Make Out. This blusher is also a Limited Edition and I love the pigmentation of the blush. I like the fact you can mix them together to create a mid shade, or use them seperately to sculpt and highlight!

Blush Duo: £6.50

The final product and freebie I got was the Limited Edition 3-in-1 tinted cream. This is a really beautiful product, which is too dark for my skin tone, but makes a lovely eyeshadow or bronzer.
Sadly, this product isn't available anymore

So, if any of you beautiful people would like to buy anything from Eyeko, use my Ambassador code:
E16565 at the check out and you'll get a freebie!

So head over to www.eyeko.com for some truely delightful makeup!

Peace, love and all that jazz. xo

Test Subject:: Anew Rejuvenate Night Revitalising Cream

This is the first in a series of reviews I shall be doing.

The Product: Anew Rejuvenate Night Revitalising Cream from Avon
What they say: "Wake up to smooth, radiant, younger looking skin with this lightweight night cream**Skin looks rejuvenated, with pores less noticeable.****Based on 12 week Clinical Study KGL 6220 with 33 women. 50ml "

What I say: Although aimed at women in their 30's I decided to give Avon's Anew Rejuvenate Night Revitalising Cream a try.
After going though the motions of my usual night time routine before bed I applied this product rather generously. Although it is an opaque cream, it is in no way heavy on the skin.

It glided across my skin beautifully and massaged in really well.
It has an interesting scent, which reminded me of pot purri in my Nan's house, but in a good way. As soon as I applied it, my skin felt velvety.

In the morning my skin felt hydrated and I noticed a slight brightness to my face, and after close inspection my pores did appear tighter.

At £19.50 R.R.P, this product could be considered a little pricey, but the 50ml would would last months. So if we assume this would last you at least 3 months, you would be paying £6.50 per month, keep that in mind.

It's currently on offer on their website for £12.

I do think it's a great product, so it definately gets a thumbs up from me.

Peace, love and all that jazz. xo

Harry Potter in One Word

I guess it's clear I'm a Harry Potter fan. I stumbled across this video, which made me smile. Enjoy.
